Once DNS, TCP, and IP have done their work the data is sent to a networking device used to direct Internet traffic called a router. In home networks, routers are usually plugged into (or part of) a modem, this is the first router the newly made packets are sent to. This personal router then sends the packets to the ISP's routers and from here they are sent to many different routers.
